The year 2020 has been anything but normal. Even traditions we take for granted (like gathering as family and friends for holidays) are being encountered with restrictions and cautions and in many cases, off limits. Traditions give us consistency in an ever-changing world. Therefore, we will be returning to an old tradition in the Church called Advent – the time for celebrating Christ’s coming to Earth at Christmas 2,000 years ago.
Most people define joy and happiness as roughly the same thing, and for many 2020 has not brought much happiness. Can you have joy no matter what? The Bible says so, but it seems Christians have an undeveloped theology of JOY. We need to change that.
