PRAYING THROUGH
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
- Romans 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
THANK God that the Spirit of life has set you free from sin’s power.
- Romans 8:5 “For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
ASK God to help you set your mind on the things of the Spirit.
- Romans 8:9 “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.”
THANK God that His Spirit dwells in you and marks you as His own.
- Romans 8:14 “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
ASK God to lead you by His Spirit in every decision today.
- Romans 8:16 “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.”
REST in the assurance that you belong to God as His beloved child.
- Romans 8:26 “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
THANK God that the Spirit intercedes for you when you feel weak or unsure how to pray.
- Galatians 5:16 “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”
PRAY for strength to walk by the Spirit and resist the desires of the flesh.
- Galatians 5:18 “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.”
THANK God for the freedom that comes from being led by the Spirit.
- Galatians 5:22–23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
ASK God to grow the fruit of the Spirit abundantly in your life.
- Galatians 6:8 “For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
ASK God to help you sow to the Spirit in your thoughts, words, and actions.
- Ephesians 1:13 “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.”
THANK God that you are sealed with the Holy Spirit forever.
- Ephesians 1:17 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.”
ASK God for wisdom and revelation through His Spirit.
- Ephesians 3:16 “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man.”
PRAY for inner strength through the Spirit’s power.
- Ephesians 4:30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
ASK God to help you live in a way that honors, not grieves, the Spirit.
- Ephesians 5:18 “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.”
PRAY to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
- Philippians 1:19 “For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.”
THANK God for the Spirit’s provision in every circumstance.
- Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.”
ASK God to work in you to desire and do His will.
- Colossians 1:8 “And he also informed us of your love in the Spirit.”
PRAY that your love for others would be Spirit-produced and Spirit-led.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:19 “Do not quench the Spirit.”
PRAY for sensitivity to the Spirit’s leading so you do not quench His work.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.”
ASK God to fill you with His power, love, and discipline.
- Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.”
THANK God for the Spirit’s renewing work in your life.
- Hebrews 9:14 “How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
ASK God to cleanse your conscience and empower you to serve Him.
- 1 Peter 1:2 “According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.”
THANK God for the Spirit’s sanctifying work in your life.
- 1 Peter 4:14 “If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
THANK God that His Spirit rests on you even in trials.
- 1 John 3:24 “The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”
ASK God to deepen your obedience and awareness of His abiding presence.
- Jude 1:20 “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”
PRAY for a strengthened faith as you pray in the Spirit.
- Jude 1:21 “Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.”
ASK God to help you remain in His love as you wait for Christ.
- Acts 9:31 “So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.”
PRAY for the comfort, peace, and strengthening of the Holy Spirit in your life and church.
- John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
ASK God to teach you and remind you of His truth through the Holy Spirit.
- John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth…”
PRAY for the Spirit to guide you into truth and deepen your understanding of God’s ways.
- 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
THANK God for the freedom and life that come from His Spirit’s presence.
